Ultimate Motorcycle Adventure

This is a story about Mario Villeneuve who travelled from Kapuskasing to Moosonee. To get there, he drove through Smooth Rock Falls, up north through Fraserdale, continued through Little Long-Smoky Falls until Otter Rapids where he then took the Winter Road called “Wetum Rd” into Moosonee.

It’s an epic journey and we left out the best part… he did this on a 3-wheeled motorcycle. Read the full article on Aventure Nord (en français).

Abitibi Canyon ADV

The Abitibi Canyon Tour is a well known wilderness adventure tour, using the Trans Canada highway to link the communities of Smooth Rock Falls and Kapuskasing (both with fuel, food and accommodations.) Visit one of North America’s largest power dams on the mighty Abitibi river. Plan your trip at GoTourOntario today!

La Sarre – Corridor du nord

This route connects the Northern Corridor to Quebec. It is a must for adventure motorcyclists who want to test the trails of Cochrane, Smooth Rock Falls, Kapuskasing, Hearst and Dubreuilville. Hockey

Hockey is popular with Canadians and especially Canadians who live in Smooth Rock Falls! We have a full size hockey rink with seating that was just recently upgraded. There is also space to watch from above, behind glass where it is a bit warmer than inside the rink.

Local hockey history

The hockey rink is located in the Reg Lamy Cultural Centre and as soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted by photos of one of hockey’s great players and Smooth Rock Falls boy, J.P. Parisé. J. P. Parisé was a professional ice hockey player who played for Team Canada at the 1972 Summit Series.

Recreational leagues

We run several recreational leagues – women, men, seniors and minors all have fun and enjoy easy access to ice time. Unlike other communities where teams can wait until 11:00pm to get on the ice, the men’s hockey teams in Smooth Rock Falls can play as early as 8:00pm.

Minor hockey in the falls

Smooth Rock Falls has a great minor league hockey team – the Smooth Rock Falls Lightning. The team had an amazing season this year! For more information about minor hockey and the upcoming season, check out their Facebook page.
