    From the office of the Mayor for Immediate Release

    Please be advised that at the March 16th 2020 Council Meeting, Mayor Michel Arseneault and Council have made decision in line with the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health “to ensure a safe and secure environment for all, the province is recommending that, where feasible, our service providers consider only allowing essential visitors until further notice.”

    Effective immediately, measures by the Town of Smooth Rock Falls to mitigate the risk are being put in place:

    –  The office of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls will be closed to the public and reopen April 6th, 2020. Should you need require assistance, please call 705-338-2717. Should there be an urgent matter after hours, please call 1-866-650-5953.  

    – On March 16th 2020, the Town council was advised that the Smooth Rock Falls Library is closed and will reopen April 6th , 2020.

    – The Reg Lamy Culture Centre (Arena & Curling Club) will be closed for the rest of the season.

    – Community Hall rentals cancelled until April 6th, 2020.

    – March 27th, 2020 budget meeting to be re-scheduled in April 2020.

    – Council and Committees’ Meetings will be suspended until further notice.

    – All Municipal out-of-town travel, for meetings, training etc. has been suspended until further notice, with the recognition that extenuating circumstances may require otherwise.

    – Council meetings open to the public will resume April 6th, 2020.

    – Public Works will continue their services including regular landfill operational hours.
