    Kashechewan First Nation Evacuates

    The community of Kashechewan declared an emergency due to a high risk of flooding on the Albany River on April 23rd, 2018.

    The Town of Smooth Rock Falls has now declared an emergency as of 2:50pm, May 2nd, 2018 in support of the Kashechewan First Nation’s precautionary evacuation and will be receiving evacuees as of tomorrow afternoon.

    The Town of Smooth Rock Falls will accommodate up to 139 residents starting tomorrow afternoon and will be lodged at the local hotel.

    The Town of Smooth Rock Falls is currently working with community partners and service providers.
