Smooth Rock Falls, ON – On Friday, MPP Guy Bourgouin met online with representatives with the Town of Smooth Rock Falls to hear how a $150,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation has made an impact in the area. In 2021, the Town received this grant to carry out the recent renovations at the Smooth Rock Falls Public Pool, resulting in a new configuration, accessible washrooms, outdoor showers, the purchase of health and safety equipment and a canopy shelter. The project was completed last summer and will support the facility to continue offering summer programming for years to come.

“I am delighted to see OTF’s grant invested in our Northern municipalities,” said Guy Bourgouin, MPP. “A public pool is a place where children can learn to be swimmers, families can share valuable time together and communities can gather to meet and share a moment of leisure. These renovations were not only key to preserve a beloved public facility, they also were necessary to ensure everyone in our community is included and can access water sports and activities.”

“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated,” said Patrick Roberts, Mayor of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls. “This grant has allowed the town to adapt the delivery of programs, services which allows it to serve our community better.”

“Non-profit organizations across Ontario deliver programming that makes a difference,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “That’s why funding that my ministry is providing through the OTF is so important. Our government wants to ensure that these programs and spaces remain the heart of communities across our province.”

The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) mission is to build healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario. As an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, last year, OTF invested over $110M into 1,022 community projects and partnerships.
