Hôpital de Smooth Rock Falls Hospital
Smooth Rock Falls is a regional centre for medical care: its state-of-the-art hospital provides 24-hour access for emergencies; serves as a primary care hospital; houses a long-term care unit; and has wait times to see a doctor that are measured in minutes.
The hospital also oversees the North Cochrane Detoxification Centre located in Smooth Rock Falls.
The hospital has approximately 85 employees including the employees from the Detox Centre. The Medical staff consists of 1 full time physician and 3 part time physicians. Our hospital is officially bilingual and all services are available in English and French. It offers the following services:
- 24-hour Emergency services
- In-patient medical, palliative care, chronic care, long-term care
- Laboratory services
- Radiology services
- Heliport is available for air transfers when needed

The Falls Medical Clinic
The Falls Medical Clinic is attached to the hospital and works in tandem with the hospital to provide top quality health care to local and area residents. For example, when the Clinic books appointments it allows for time during the day to help the hospital emergency room manage emergencies. This helps to keep the wait times at the hospital emergency room shorter.
The Medical Clinic is focused on family and community health and providing medical care for people with minor illnesses and injuries. It is not a walk-in clinic. Please call the number below to book an appointment.

PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT
The Smooth Rock Falls Porcupine Health Unit has a full time nurse on staff. It works within our community to promote and protect the health of all our residents. Health protection works particularly in the areas of food and water safety environmental risks such as toxic waste handling and pollution, second-hand smoke, public sanitation, spread of rabies and vaccinations against major communicable diseases.

COCHRANE DISTRICT DETOX CENTRE
The Cochrane District Detox Centre provides non-medical detoxification services as well as physical and psychological stabilization to individuals suffering from abuse/dependence to alcohol, drugs or medication.
The Cochrane District Detox Centre (CDDC), sponsored by the Hôpital de Smooth Rock Falls Hospital, has been in operation for more than 25 years. The 20-bed facility is housed in the Mattagami Centre in Smooth Rock Falls. The agency is mandated to offer services to the population of the North East region; a small percentage of persons from other regions of the province also seek services at the CDDC. This residential center operates 24/7.
