RE: Mayor Michel Arseneault’s Resignation
Dear residents of Smooth Rock Falls,
At the February 1st, 2021 Council Meeting Mayor Michel Arseneault announced his difficult decision to resign as the Mayor of the Town Smooth Rock Falls effective February 5th, 2021 at 4 p.m. Mayor Michel Arseneault’s letter to the community can be found here.
Council and the Administrative staff would like to express their gratitude to Michel Arseneault for his 20 years of commitment, dedication, and kindness for our community. His achievements as an elected official and Mayor have set a successful path for the Town of Smooth Rock Falls, and he will be missed greatly.
At the February 16th 2021 Council Meeting, the Town Council discussed the vacancy and are pleased to announce the resolution that was passed:
Whereas Council has declared the Mayor’s seat vacant;
And Whereas Council has deemed it prudent to fill the position from within its ranks;
And Whereas Councilor Sue Perras has consented to accept the appointment of Mayor for the remainder of the Council term
Now therefore be it resolved that Council for the Corporation of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls does hereby appoint Sue Perras as Mayor.
And be it further resolved that Council declare the Councillor seat formerly held by Councillor Perras vacant.
Congratulations to Mayor Sue Perras for accepting the appointment of Mayor for the remainder of the Council term. Please be advised that the vacant Councilor seat will be discussed at the March 1st, 2021 Council Meeting.
