RE: Public Pool & Splash Pad
On June 8th, the Ontario government announced that it is getting more people back to work and more recreational activities open by moving forward with a regional approach to Stage 2 of reopening the province. For the full press release please go to the following link: https://news.ontario.ca/opo/en/2020/06/ontario-permits-more-businesses-and-services-to-reopen-in-the-coming-days
What Stage 2 Means for Outdoor and Recreational Activities
All indoor and outdoor swimming pools and outdoor splash pads and wading pools may open to the public with no access to high-contact aquatic features such as slides and climbing structures.
Outdoor Recreational Facilities
Playgrounds, play structures and outdoor fitness equipment will remain closed.
Please be advised that the Town is currently working with the Porcupine Health Unit on the guidelines for the opening of the SRF Public Pool and the SRF Splash Pad. These items will be discussed at the upcoming June 15th Council Meeting and the Town will provide an update to the residents as soon as possible.
On behalf of Council and Administration we would also like to thank every resident for doing their part in helping flattening the curve. Ontario’s Phase 2 of reopening is very encouraging as it is allowing residents to do some additional activities, but please remember the importance of continuing with the practice of physical distancing. We have to continue to keep working together and following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Porcupine Health Unit.
Sincerely,
Mayor, Michel Arseneault,
CC: Luc Denault, CAO & Director of Economic Development
