Smooth Rock Falls offers some of the best fishing, boating and hunting in the province. There are many lakes and rivers in the area including the Mattagami River, Abitibi River (New Post Falls), Departure Lake, Sand Lake and Indian Lake. Smooth Rock Falls is also the gateway to Fraserdale and the spectacular and breathtaking Abitibi Canyon and the world famous Abitibi River.
The gorgeous Mattagami River has multiple access points for boats. There is a municipal boat launch at Kelly Park located just south of the bridge.
