Website Linking & Posting Policy
PURPOSE
Thank you for visiting the Town of Smooth Rock Falls (the “Town”) website. This website is intended to provide information about the Town, Town enterprises organizations, departments, services, programs, events or activities to residents, staff, businesses, visitors and other stakeholders. This website is not intended to be an open public forum or other means by which public disclosure, exchange of opinions, or discussion on issues of any nature may occur.
In addition to the above-noted information, this website may provide links to third party websites or post content developed by third parties. The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines pursuant to which the Town will post such links and content.
By accessing and using the Town’s website, you agree to follow and be bound by the terms and conditions of this policy. The Town may update this policy at any time without notice. Updated versions of this policy will be made readily accessible through the Town’s website.
THIRD PARTY LINKS & POSTING REQUESTS
Links to third party websites or posting of content developed by third parties on the Town’s website shall be initiated by written request to the Town by the owner of the third party website or third party content that is the subject of the request.
The Town shall have sole and absolute discretion in deciding whether to approve a request and shall provide a written reply to same within a reasonable timeframe after receipt.
Before rendering a decision hereunder, the Town shall evaluate the request to determine if the third-party link or third-party content:
- complements or enhances existing information on the Town’s website;
- is relevant and useful to the Town’s residents, staff, businesses, visitors and other stakeholders; and
- contains information that appears to be accurate and current.
Requests for links to third party websites shall not be approved unless the website being linked has:
- A posted privacy policy that, at a minimum, clearly describes how the information of those accessing the website is collected, used, disclosed, secured, and disposed of; and
- A home/start page that:
- contains a valid HTML title tag that provides the name of the website or the person or organization that operates the website.
- provides contact information available to anyone accessing the website. This contact information may be in the form of an email address, postal address, or telephone number.
ADMINISTRATION FEE
Approved requests shall be subject to a non-refundable administration fee as set out in Schedule “A” to this policy. No link to a third-party website or content developed by third parties shall be placed on the Town’s website until the Town receives full payment of the applicable fee amount.
JOB ADVERTISEMENTS
Where the subject matter of requests for links to third party websites or posting of content developed by third parties is job advertisements, unless a contrary intention is stated by requestors in their requests, the Town shall be permitted to link to or post content developed by those requestors on the Town’s website in respect of such subject matter absent receipt of subsequent requests from them.
DISCLAIMER OF ENDORSEMENT
The inclusion links to third party websites and content developed by third parties on the Town’s website shall not be taken as an endorsement, representation or warranty by the Town concerning the accuracy, quality or reliability of information contained in such links or content nor shall such inclusion constitute nor imply endorsement, sponsorship, referral or approval of the of the content, viewpoint, accuracy, opinions, materials, policies, products, accessibility, compliance with intellectual property law or statute of the website being linked or content.
If you choose to purchase any products or services from a linked website or posted third party content provider, your relationship is directly with the third party and not the Town. You agree that the Town is not responsible for: (a) the quality of third party products or services; and (b) fulfilling any of the terms of your agreement with the seller, including delivery of products or services and warranty obligations related to purchased products or services. You agree that we are not responsible for any loss or damage of any sort you may incur from dealing with any third party.

THE TOWN’S WEBSITE, TOGETHER WITH THE MATERIALS AND INFORMATION THEREON IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS AND THE TOWN DISCLAIMS ALL REPRESENTATIONS, WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT THERETO, INCLUDING ANY MERCHANTABILITY, MERCHANTABLE QUALITY, DURABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE TOWN DOES NOT REPRESENT OR WARRANT: THAT THE TOWN’S WEBSITE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS; THAT THE OPERATION OF THE TOWN’S WEBSITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED AND ERROR-FREE; OR THE CORRECTNESS, ACCURACY, OR RELIABILITY OF ANY CONTENT OR OTHER INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH THE TOWN’S WEBSITE. LOCATION AND APPEARANCE OF THIRD PARTY LINKS & POSTINGS
The Town reserves the right to determine how and where links to third party websites and content developed by third parties appears or are placed on the Town’s website.
REMOVAL OF CONTENT
The Town reserves the right to remove links to third party websites or content developed by third parties without notice if, in the Town’s sole opinion, the website being linked or content provides or promotes false, defamatory, incorrect information, or is otherwise contrary to this policy at any time.
